Can't Wait

Hello - thanks for stopping by :)

I can't wait for this week to be over. Then I'm free for the summer! Whoot!

Before church this morning, I ate this beauty for breakfast.

  • 30 grams oats
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 T UVAB
  • 1 T natural PB
It's been awhile since I've had a breakfast cookie with banana in it. It was SO sweet! I almost went back to the fridge to put some plain yogurt on it to mellow it out, but I wanted to keep my breakfast calorie-light because I knew we were going out for lunch after church.

I didn't bring my camera with me to the restaurant, I was just going to use my iphone to take a few pictures, unfortunately my iphone was dead. So I'm sorry to say, I have no pictures of my lunch. I had a poached egg sandwich with tomato and herb mayo with hashbrowns. It was face rockin.

When we came home I got to work on a final project and snacked on this.

  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese
  • 100 grams strawberry yogurt
  • 4 small strawberries
I kept working on my project, and then it was time to go to church for the evening service.

I was starving by the time we got back to house, so I whipped up this salad.

  • 1 Italian chicken sausage
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1/2 tomato
  • 2 cups romaine
  • 1 cup mixed salad greens
  • balsamic dressing

It hit the spot. D's out riding his Harley around town with some of his friends. Time for me to get back to my books.

Have a great night everyone! :)

Hip Issues (again)

Well, it seems I did a number to my hip yesterday during my workout. I even did hip opening yoga last night to prevent this from happening, sadly I've been limping around all morning. I hate my hip problems. I think it may be time to seek out some physio therapy.

__________
On a lighter note, I enjoyed another awesome breaky this morning.

Chocolate Pumpkin Breakfast Cookie

  • 30 grams oats
  • 2 T pumpkin puree
  • 1 T almond milk
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 T almond butter
Mix it all up, spread on a plate, and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

In the morning add any toppings you like. My favorite right now are strawberries (50 grams this morning) and yogurt (1/3 of a cup).

__________

I was supposed to go on a 14 km run this morning with a few friends, but my hips aren't letting that happen. I'm thinking I'll do biceps and back instead.

Have a great Saturday :)

Blogger Fail :(

Hello bloggers!

It's a beautifully sunny morning where I am. This makes me so happy because I'm going on a run outside today!! Yes, that's right. I can workout again! Yesterday was the last day of my no-working-out for a week plan. I feel great. I did some stretches before bed last night to make sure I'm all loose and ready for a hard workout.

I have to say, I'm sorry for not posting yesterday. I was planning to do one big post last night, but I COMPLETELY forgot to take pictures of my dinner party last night :( I realized it after all our plates were cleaned off, and the food was gone. I'm sorry - blogger fail.

I do have photos from all my other meals though.

For breakfast I had another breakfast cookie (courtesy of the Fitnessista).

(chocolate pumpkin breakfast cookie with plain yogurt and strawberries - stay tuned for the recipe)

Lunch was cottage cheese mixed with yogurt and a few blueberries, veggies, light laughing cow cheese (I'm addicted to these), and an oatmeal to go bar.

I packed it all up to take to class with me.

When I got home, I snacked on this tasty treat. Half and banana with half a tablespoon of peanut butter.

I haven't been eating bananas much lately. I'm watching how much sugar I'm eating, so I usually only eat fruit once a day, if I eat it at all.

Dinner was just what I told you guys it would be. Lemon chicken, yam fries, and a green salad with goat feta, cranberries, and pine nuts. It was so good! I just wish the lemon would have absorbed more into the chicken (I used this recipe, but I changed up the chicken things for chicken breast, and only cooked it for about 30 minutes at 375 degrees).

This morning I made the same thing as yesterday.

Pumpkin Chocolate Breast Cookie

  • 40 grams of oats
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 2 T pumpkin puree (any more and the cookie is still soft the next morning)
  • 1 T UVAB
  • 1 T natural peanut butter
Throw all the ingredients in a bowl and mix. Once it's all combined, spread it evenly on a plate, and place it in the fridge over night.

The next morning I like to put plain yogurt and strawberries on top.

Please don't be scared of the combination of chocolate and pumpkin. It works, trust me!

Ok... enough blogging. I'm itching to get active and workout! See you all soon :)

A New Recipe for Pizza Crust

Morning gang,

We've been bussssy over here.

Let me quickly recap the eats from yesterday.

This was J and mine's lunch.

Check out how big it is! I named them veggie mountains instead of pizzas!

I made their crusts using this recipe. J cut up all those veggies, and we topped the pizzas with nutritional yeast and goat cheese.

I ate all the veg and cheese, but could only get through half of the crust. It was filling!

The crust was more like a pancake. I don't know if I'll be repeating it, even though it is low carb.

Dinner was just as filling last night.

  • 1/4 head of cabbage steamed with water, and sprinkled furiously with pepper
  • red bell pepper
  • onions
  • tons of garlic
  • chicken sausages
  • pickled veggie salad (I picked this up at the deli department in my grocery store)
This dinner had tons of spice. I'm so happy to have company over who loves spicy food as much (if not more) than I do.

Last night I taught J how to make breakfast cookies. She's not out of bed yet, but I can't wait to see if she likes it!

How could you not like this? I mean really... I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a great morning folks! I'll try to get my updates coming in sooner.

I Don't Wanna

Hi everyone,

I hope your Saturday has been going really well thus far. If you're like me, you've just had a chance to eat breakfast.

Chocolate Breakfast Cookie

  • 40 grams oats
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 T natural PB
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
  • 1/4 banana

It was good stuff. If you still haven't tried one of Gina's breakfast cookies, I implore you! Try one!

I gotta go get ready to go to my oil change, across THE OTHER END OF THE CITY! I hate driving far...

Have a great day gang :)

Snow - Go Away!

I woke up this morning to this view.

Snow....

I was less than impressed. Last night I was wearing flip flops, today is back to the uggs.

I made a breakfast cookie last night.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp PB
  • splash of rice milk
  • goji berries

It's pretty darn tasty. Unfortunately I'm outta coffee, so it's only the gulp this morning. I might have to make a run to Bucks (a.k.a. Starbucks) to pick up my daily cup of joe.

Time to hit the books... I'm going to be so happy to not have to say this in closing! Less than a month to go! Whoot Whoot.

Slurp and Gulp Come Back

Morning!

D got up early to go to work this morning, and it was just not possible for me to go back to sleep. I hate it when that happens... my stomach started growling while I was still laying in bed, and I knew I had a breakfast cookie waiting for me. LOVE that.

For the cookie:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 scoop protein powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp PB
  • 1/2 banana
  • splash of enriched rice milk
All you do is mix everything up in a bowl, lay it out on a plate, and stick in the fridge over night.

Then all I have to do in the morning is make coffee, and I'm ready to eat!

I still have a few more hours till I have to get ready for church.... what shall I do?

A Mixed Up

Morning blog friends,

How was your night? I hope everyone got enough sleep to function for the day (ahem...Karlie...).

I wanted a breakfast cookie when I woke up this morning... unfortunately there wasn't one waiting for me in the fridge today. So I decided to mix up all the ingredients for one and just eat it like that. I mean, I always enjoy looking my spoons after I make one the night before!

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seads
  • 1/2 scoop protein powder
  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • splash of almond milk
This was so yummy. The oats were obviously a but chewier than they normally are, but I gulped it down just the same.

That's coffee to the right of my oats. I put a little stevia and almond milk in it this morning. MmmmMmmm

I haven't decided when I'll hit up the gym today... I'm gonna take it easy and make sure I get some yoga in because D and I have our 8 mile run tomorrow. I'm not gonna lie, I'm super nervous for this one. I'm praying my hips don't act up, especially if we're running outside.

See you all soon :)

I Could Eat Another One

Morning Bloggers,

Happy Friday!! It's the start of the weekend. I can't believe how fast this week flew by - Thankfully.

Chocolate Chai Tea with a Cinnamon Goji Berry Breakfast Cookie. Bliss :)

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 scoop whey protein powder
  • splash of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp natural PB
  • 4 gram goji berries
  • cinnamon
I'm still nibbling on it. It's good.

I'm surprised I'm not more sore after last night's power workout. My muscles were burning for most of the workout, but I'm only a little stiff this morning. Huh. Maybe it's still coming...

A Beautiful Sky

Hi gang,

I'm so sorry I have to apologize for this. I went over to my parents house for dinner last night with D's cousin and Grandma, and I forgot my camera! Can you believe it?? You probably can... I was mad! I was mad because the meal was absolutely spectacular! We had muscles, and vegetarian lasagna (that knocked my socks off), salad with pomegranates, the creamiest sweet potatoes you'll ever have with cardamon and cinnamon, and pork with apples and raisins (the one dish I didn't partake in, well except for a few apples). It was so good. I wish I had the photos!!

Here's a WAY less exciting breakfast post though.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla whey powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa
  • splash of unsweetened chocolate almond milk
It was tasty, but not near as satisfying as it usually is. I think we can blame that on last night's feast.

I woke up to an amazing sun rise, check it out.

This photo doesn't even do it justice. When I came down from our bedroom this morning, I looked out the window and saw a bright pink sky. It was stunning.

There is a ton of construction going on around us.

This is two rows of townhomes that they are building right beside out place. They can be pretty noisy at times, but this morning they're silent. That adds to the most-beautiful-sunrise-effect.

Well gang, I'll see you soon.

A Brand New Look

Good Morning!!

Happy SATURDAY! To all you running your half-marathons today, GOOD LUCK! I wish you all the best. :)

I have a long run to do today, myself. Not nearly as long as a half, but a 6 miler. That's the longest run I've done since my hips were injured. Wish me luck!

Sorry there weren't very many posts yesterday. I had a crazy busy day. It started off with my breaky post, then I headed over to my friend's salon to get my hair cut and colored (I LOVE being a blonde again).

After that it was straight home to change for my first Bikram class. It was amazing!! I felt great during the class, but after the class, I got a chill from going outside in my sweaty, yucking clothes - not smart. I'm not sure what I was thinking with that one. Bikram is wonderful, the poses are challenging, but can all be simplified. I loved it. The teacher asked if any one was a new when we got in, I raised my hand, and she helped my through the entire class. It was awesome. My friend and I bought a unlimited weekly pass, so I'm gonna make sure I get there a few more times this week! Can't say enough good things about it.

When I came home from class, I had to immediately shower and change because D and I were going out for dinner with his Nana and cousin. We went out to a restaurant in Edmonton, called Moxies. It is a chain restaurant. They are located all over Canada (not sure if they're in the States). I had the salmon sandwich with nan bread, no sauce and a side salad with no feta and dressing on the side. I was happy to see that D's family is as high maintenance as I am, while ordering their meals! They all made similar changes to their meals.

Here are some of the eats I pictured for you yesterday.

This was a mixed green salad with half a cucumber. The white stuff on top is a mix of one egg white and one whole egg. I cooked this mixture in the microwave and chopped it up. The dressing was Frank's hot sauce and balsamic vinaigrette. YUMO (if I can borrow Rachael Ray's saying ;))!

I knew I would be needed some carbs to hold me over through yoga and unto dinner, so I had a small bowl of Kashi cereal and vector with almond milk. So tasty.

I had one of these bars, while I was at the hair dressers. The peanut butter flavor, which happens to be the best flavor.

This morning I knew I needed a slurp and gulp! So yummy. I love the chocolate flavored breakfast cookies.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla whey powder
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • unsweetened chocolate almond milk
It really hit the spot this morning!

Can you tell that my hair is lighter? I love it!! Almost as much as I love my slurp and gulp ;)

I'll see you all in a little while!

The Breakfast of Champions

I could not be more happy with the way my slurp and gulp turned out this morning! Both were incredibly delish. Let's check them out in reverse order.

The gulp

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 scoop whey protein powder
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 4 grams goji berries
  • splash of almond milk

The slurp

  • coffee with about 2 tbsp of almond milk mixed in
Such a good, powerful breakfast. I'm so grateful to Gina for inventing the breakfast cookie.

Have a great morning every one!

Introducing the Slurp and Gulp

Good morning!

It feels so good to be awake this morning! I had such a great sleep; I even woke up before my alarm.

Next up - SLURP AND GULP

This is the slurp.

Coffee with a little bit of almond milk.

Me slurping. Sorry about the frumpy appearance. I just woke up.

This is the gulp.

My breakfast cookie!
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla whey powder
  • 6 grams raisins
  • cinnamon
  • splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Then this morning I added:
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • more cinnamon
  • sprinkle of unsweetened shredded coconut

I like to call my coffee and breakfast cookie the slurp and gulp because that's how I eat it. I slurp a little coffee then I gulp a little cookie. It's perfect! :)

Have a great day everyone!

Saturday Perfectness

Hey-O

I've had such an awesome day today. I woke up pretty early (considering it's Saturday), and ate another chocolate breakfast cookie. I guess I'm not over the chocolatey goodness just yet.

And thank goodness! It's just that good. I've eaten the same concoction three days this week! That's nearly unheard of for this girl. I also figured out the best way to eat them. See that beautiful cup? Well I fill it with coffee and sip it in-between each bite of my cookie. Mmmmmm.... I get goosebumps just thinking about it ;)

Shortly after this, I headed to other side of the city for a two hour workout at Prime Fitness. It was incredible! I haven't been that tired from a workout in a long long time. Just after an hour into it, it felt like I nothing left to give. It was awesome.

We did over 200 pushups, tons of lunges, squats, different variations of sit-ups, burpies, skipping... It was crazy - I'll leave it at that.

Then my mother and I went out for lunch to a place called Cafe Mosaics. It's a vegetarian restaurant located in one Edmonton's most eccentric neighborhoods, Whyte Avenue. My mom got the Pho Soup and I got the Cowgirl Breakfast. It was pretty darn good. I'd like to go back for dinner.

Since I was out of chia seeds and my mom needed a few things from Planet Organic, we decided to make a quick stop. But who can really make a stop at Planet Organic "quick"? Not us.

Here's what I got.

Almond milk in both chocolate and vanilla flavors, spelt flakes, chia seeds (!), and onions. I can't wait to see what the spelt flakes are like. We'll found out tomorrow.

Well I'm off to clean the house. I hope your Saturday turns out great! Chat soon.

New Template Unveiling!

Afternoon everyone,

When I woke up this morning I knew two things. I had a breakfast cookie ready to be eaten in the fridge and I needed to make a pot of coffee.

Here's the cookie:

I love the chocolate flavor so much, but I think I'll start experimenting from here on in. Today's cookie subsided my chocolate cravings. I think a cinnamon raisin cookie sounds pretty spectacular.

Here's the coffee:

Coffee in my Coldplay mug. D bought it for me when we went to see them last year. It's just about the perfect size for my morning cup of joe.

I don't have photos to show you of my lunch, but it's ok, cause it was pretty much the same as my supper last night.

After class, I made D's dinner - Chili. It's in the slow cooker getting all nice and.... cooked? Then I snacked on this:

Another one of my protein bars; the last protein bar unfortunately. This one was the cinnamon bun flavor. MmmmMmmm good.

Do you like the new template? I do!

A First Time Favourite

This morning's breakfast was AAA-mazing. I don't know why I haven't tried this sooner. Well that's not entirely true. I do know why... because it's cold. I usually like to have a hot bowl of oats in the morning. But this morning it was tie to try the breakfast cookie.

Again, this idea is Gina's idea.

My cookie had:

1/3 cup oats
1/2 banana
1 tbsp natural peanut butter
1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
1 tbsp cocao powder
splash of milk
sprinkling of toasted, unsweetened, shredded coconut

I have no words to describe how delicious and decadent this was. Mmmmmmm... excuse me while I go reminisce about my breakfast.
